"Love as if your heart isn't fragile"™ came to me one day (2001) while at the mall of all places. A friend and I were going on about the topic of love when the words popped into my head. I'm not very good about always living by the motto of course but it's something to work towards.

The following Web sites have been extremely helpful in building this site.

Dynamic Drive

Yet another person who insists on taking up Web space

No matter how many times I update this page, I always have a hard time coming up with something to write.

I am 37, female, living in Virginia and an amateur coder. I became interested in HTML and CSS nine years ago while idly looking through the want ads. I couldn’t help but notice that many jobs asked for or required some knowledge of HTML. I found this curious and a little disconcerting. After starting up a couple of single pages here and there, I bought this domain, the HTML 4 Bible and opened up Notepad. The rest, as they say, is very boring history. I was amazed then that whole web sites could be built with only a simple text editor and I remain awed by that. Perhaps that explains why, after so many years, I still find this little hobby so interesting.

I am a child advocate, first and foremost. I like to also think of myself as a bit of a writer. I am also a book and TV addict. Yes, one can be both, though perhaps not very successfully. I should be embarrassed, I suppose, that I can quote good sized chunks of Friends episodes rather than Shakespeare or Austen, but, well, we can’t be all things to all people.

The site is just a place for me to practice my coding skills, writing, photo taking and anything else that pops into my head.

The moon/girl logo was done for me by a friend. She’s changed a bit since her creation, but I limit myself mostly to changing the colors of her dress and pigtails. A girl gets tired of wearing the same outfit day in and day out, no?

The site is maintained using ExpressionEngine as a content manager. PHP and CSS make site maintenance quite easy. This great tutorial also helped me out tremendously.

Cookies are used to store name, email address and URL entered when making a comment and they are only stored locally on your computer. This is optional; unchecking the “Save personal information” box will prevent cookies from being set, and will delete any cookies previously stored on your computer. Although emails are required to leave a comment, rest assured that I don’t collect them to send you offers to enlarge body parts. To combat comment SPAM, CAPTCHA images have been enabled. If you have trouble seeing the images and would like to give me feedback, please use the contact form to get in touch with me. You can also avoid the CAPTCHA nonsense by registering for an account.

If you’re interested in being notified when the words for Unconscious Mutterings are posted, you can add yourself to the mailing list. You are required to verify your subscription for both the email distribution list and when opening an account. Unless you specifically request it of me, I do not add anyone to either of these lists myself.

RSS Feeds

If you use a news aggregator to keep up with site updates, there are a couple of RSS feeds to choose from. I’m working on adding more, as I figure out the content, and will add the links as they become available.

Reading is Fundamental RSS 2.0 full entries with links to comments
Unconscious Mutterings RSS 1.0 entry title with permalink

I could write a book and never give out enough information I think, so should you have any questions about me or the site, feel free to drop me a note.
